About Rerinku View

On this page

Rerinku View is Rerinku’s IP camera (IPC) product line. It connects the cameras in your home, shop or office to a machine of your own. You watch live video, record continuously and play back footage in a browser or on your phone, and AI recognition runs on that same machine. By default, camera video and recordings are stored only on that machine.

What it’s made of

Part What it is
Rerinku View The server program. It runs on your computer, NAS, mini PC or dev board (Linux, macOS, Windows, or Docker). It connects cameras, records, runs recognition and serves the web console
Web console Built into Rerinku View. Open Rerinku View’s address in a browser. There is nothing else to install
Rerinku View app Android phone app: watch live video and events, and get notifications
Rerinku Cam Android app: turns an old phone into a camera that connects to Rerinku View
Rerinku Cloud (optional) A relay for Quick Connect (reach your home Rerinku View when you’re out) and for phone push notifications. Everything works without it
Rerinku View SDK Tools for developers: the device SDK lets camera firmware connect directly, and the Web SDK plays video in your own web pages

Supported cameras

  • ONVIF cameras: discovered automatically on your LAN. Enter the username and password to add one. Main stream, substream and PTZ are supported.
  • RTSP cameras: enter the RTSP URL directly.
  • GB28181 devices: the device registers with the GB28181 platform built into Rerinku View.
  • USB cameras: connect directly on Linux.
  • Devices built with the Rerinku View SDK: the device connects to Rerinku View on its own and shows up in the device list automatically.
  • Phones: install Rerinku Cam and the phone becomes a camera.

H.264 and H.265 video is forwarded as is and uses almost no CPU. MJPEG is converted to H.264 on Rerinku View. See Connecting cameras.

What it does

  • Live view: a multi-pane video wall, layout presets, tours and PTZ control. Latency is usually under a second (WebRTC).
  • Recording and playback: turn on continuous recording per camera, and a clip is recorded automatically when an event happens. The playback page has a timeline, a month calendar and playback speeds. Recordings can also be uploaded to S3-compatible storage or WebDAV.
  • Events and notifications: motion detection, alarms and AI recognition results from your cameras are collected as events and pushed to your phone.
  • AI recognition: recognizes people, vehicles and pets on this machine, and recognizes familiar faces from your face library.
  • Remote access: turn on Quick Connect in one click and open your Rerinku View from anywhere.
  • Integrations: send events to your own MQTT server, or connect to Home Assistant.

Where your data lives

Camera video, recordings, recognition results and the face library are all stored on the machine that runs Rerinku View. Only these leave the machine: the installation report, which is on by default (you can turn it off); the text of phone notifications; and, once Quick Connect is on, the pages and API content you access through it. For the full list, see What data leaves this machine.

Next steps
