Quick start

On this page

The goal is to connect one camera, watch live video and play back a new recording. Complete this path before adding other features.

Before you begin

Have a connected camera and its credentials ready, and make sure the Rerinku View host can reach it. For host and disk planning, see Planning your installation.

Install

If you have not installed Rerinku View, follow Install Rerinku View for Linux, macOS, Windows or Docker. Continue below if you can already open the console.

First use

1. Open the console and set an access password

Open http://<onboard-host-ip>:8080 in your browser, or http://localhost:8080 on the host itself. Set a password under Settings → Sessions → Access password. This password protects your local Rerinku View; the Cloud account is for optional Quick Connect.

Check: The console opens, and reopening it after setting a password requires login. If it does not open, use Troubleshooting to check the service and network.

2. Connect your first camera

Open Devices → Discover devices, select an ONVIF camera, click Add and enter its credentials. If it is not discovered, use Add manually with its IP or RTSP URL. Put RTSP credentials in the separate fields, not in the URL.

Check: The camera appears in the device list. For other protocols, streams and PTZ, see Connecting cameras.

3. Watch live video

Open Live and put the camera on the wall. Play just this camera first; choose H.264 when several streams are available.

Check: The picture keeps updating. Enable sound in the player if needed. If the page opens but video does not play, see Live video troubleshooting.

4. Enable and verify recording

Turn on Recording for this camera in Devices. After recording a short period, open Playback, select the same device and today’s date, then click a recorded interval.

Check: You can play the footage you just recorded. Review capacity and retention under Settings → Storage → Local recordings; the default limit is 100 GiB. For files, cleanup and remote storage, see Recording and playback.

Watch on your phone

Get the Rerinku View Android app from the download page. See Remote access and the phone app for pairing and current limits. The current app cannot create a new binding when Rerinku View has an access password; already-bound phones keep working. Finish the browser checks above first, then check the phone guide for the applicable setup.
